On June 19th, the Korean Institute of Design Promotion Center that landed in Guangdong Industry Design City in Shunde was officially opened. It is the first start-up project after the friendly cooperation reached by Shunde Government and the Korean Design Revitalization Institute, which will provide an important platform for in-depth cooperation between Shunde and Korea in the field of design and creative industries.

The Korea Design Revitalization Institute aims to promote the design career of the Korean Government, and it is also the operation and management unit of Korean Institute of Design Promotion Center. According to the agreement, Korea will introduce ten design enterprises into Korean Institute of Design Promotion Center, which ranges from daily necessities to means of transportation development. The first batch of six Korean design companies will soon be stationed, and the rest will also be stationed within this year.

Zhao Douxian, director of Korea Design Revitalization Institute, thinks that Shunde is in the leading position in many industries such as home appliances and intelligent manufacturing. As a name card of “Shunde Design”, Guangdong Industry Design City is a national industrial design demonstration base. It not only has the perfect design industry chain system, but also has the first-class basic supporting facilities. This is the important reason that they choose to settle Korean Institute of Design Promotion Center in Shunde.  

Zhao Douxian said, in the future, the Korean Institute of Design Promotion Center will hold regular forums and training to help Chinese and Korean enterprises share advanced global design information. In addition, the center will also operate projects for young Chinese and Korean designers to better understand Shundes cutting-edge industry, and Shunde designers will also be able to learn technologies from Korean product design.

Last year, Shunde issued the Three-year Action Plan of Design Shunde, which planned to put an investment of 1.5 billion yuan to build an industrial design ground with global influence. At present, Guangdong Industry Design City has attracted many well-known design agencies from Germany, Sweden, Japan and Korea.

The person in charge of Guangdong Industry Design City said that the Korean Institute of Design Promotion Center will provide conditions for both Chinese and Korean in terms of training, communication and cooperation in the field of innovative design. Guangdong Industry Design City will take this as an opportunity to absorb more foreign high-quality design resources, to further promote the internationalization and professional level of the city, and better promote the high-quality development of Shunde industrial design industry.
