According to statistics, in 2019, Foshan has a total of 292 municipal characteristic town projects with a total investment of 77.325 billion yuan and an annual plan investment of 15.233 billion yuan.

In August 2017, Foshan announced the list of the first batch of 15 municipal characteristic towns, emphasizing that Foshan should take the municipal characteristic town as the focus, and make every effort to promote the construction of all characteristic towns. Among them, 12 towns including Qiandeng Lake Venture Capital Town were selected as the cultivation objects of provincial characteristic towns, ranking first in Guangdong province. Taogu Town, as one of the 15 typical cases of characteristic towns in China, shares its experience at the national meeting.

As for the investment progress, there are 8 towns that exceed the time schedule (50%) from January to June, accounting for 53.33% of the total number of towns, which includes Taogu Town, Jiantao Town, Green Energy Equipment Town, Waterside Town, Lingnan Cultural Travel Town, Home Furniture Town, Guangfu Impression Town and so on.

The five districts in Foshan are also speeding up the construction of characteristic towns. From January to June, the construction progress of characteristic towns in Chancheng and Nanhai District exceeded the time schedule, with the investment amount reaching 3.644 billion yuan and 3.774 billion yuan respectively.

Next, Foshan will speed up the development of characteristic towns and realize the transformation of facility-orientation to business-orientation, and the transformation of single town construction to town-group transformation, exploring the characteristic road of Foshan in continuous innovation.
