Recently, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism issued the sixth announcement on the results of evaluation and grading of public libraries at county-above level. Six libraries in Foshan including Foshan Library, Chancheng District Library, Nanhai Library, Shunde Library, Gaoming Library and Sanshui Library are titled National First-class Libraries.

Library rating has a strict evaluation system, which involves dozens of indicators in three parts including library service efficiency, business construction and security conditions.

Foshan Library has been awarded the National First-class Library for six consecutive years. In the on-site reassessment and inspection last year, experts highly appraised Foshan Library that it has complete library services and innovative projects, which provides valuable experience for public libraries in Guangdong Province.

Its reported that Foshan Library has taken full responsibility as a municipal library in this evaluation and effectively promoted the enthusiasm of libraries at all levels. In the aspect of public library service system construction, Foshan library plays the role of central library and sets up a platform of lending and returning; Push the equalization of library service through the construction of digital library.

Apart from Foshan Library, others in five districts of Foshan also have good performance. Taken Chancheng District as an example, it always sticks to the aim of benefiting people by culture. Based on the three-level service network of towns and villages and fixed premises, and the supplement of digital service from digital library and mobile service from automobile library, Chancheng District Library has formed a comprehensive and integrated network of public library services, which is also the reason for its evaluation as National First-class Libraries.
