On August 5, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) One Million Dollar International Entrepreneurship Competition (Foshan District) ended successfully, and 5 teams were admitted into the national final on behalf of Foshan. This is the first time that Foshan has been listed as a division of the event, and the participating projects that are closely related to the local industry of Foshan have become the biggest highlight.    

Foshan Gangke Technology Co Ltd is one of the teams participating in the competition. Its participating project is LED performance testing and application design innovation platform. The use of this platform allows a large number of small and medium-sized LED production enterprises in Foshan to stop wasting much R&D funds in the detection. " Yang Yanhong, business manager of the company said. The project began as early as 2013, and it hopes to attract more attention from upstream and downstream companies through the competition, thus promoting the construction of the platform.

Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) One Million Dollar International Entrepreneurship Competition has been held for seven consecutive years since it was launched in 2011, which is an important force for Hong Kongs innovation and entrepreneurship. The competition also sets divisions in Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Macau and Beijing, attracting more than 500 teams to participate in. This year, the event is further expanded to include Foshan and Zhongshan.

"The 72 teams in Foshan are mainly local, and there are also teams from Guangzhou and Zhongshan.” Responsible staff of the sponsor expressed. Most of the participating projects are concentrated in environmental protection, LED and other industries, fully reflecting the close relation between direction of innovation&entrepreneurship and Foshan local industries. 

The winning teams will participate in the national final in Nansha, Guangzhou representing Foshan division in September this year. The quality projects will also have the opportunity to obtain free office space,and incubating and training resources provided by the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Science and Technology Exhibition Exchange Centre in Sanshan New City.

It’s reported that Nanhai and HKUST has a long history of cooperation. This year the two sides work again together to contribute to the construction of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
