白兰在佛山的栽植历史长远，最早可追溯到唐朝时期，由于种植方式简单、成花美丽，不少佛山居民都陆续在家门口种上几棵。
Magnolia has a long history in Foshan, which can date back to the Tang Dynasty. Because of simple planting pattern and beautiful flowers, many Foshan residents plant several trees in their gardens.
1997年，经市民及专家投票并通过人大常委会审议，决定将白兰树、白兰花定为市树、市花，正式作为佛山的人文及生态环境的重要标志。
In 1997, after vote and deliberation, magnolia tree and its flower were chosen as the city tree and city flower of Foshan, which became an important symbol in culture and ecological environment.
广佛线竟是全国第一？Guangfo Metro ranked No.1 nationwide

过去由于交通不便，佛山各区各镇都是相对孤立的水乡，也就慢慢地形成了一区一镇一语音的文化现象。 加上与南海、顺德合并之后，有人用广州白话，有人用顺德话，有人用石湾话等等。不过幸运的是，这些所谓的方言都是基于粤语。
Due to poor transportation in the past, districts and towns in Foshan were isolated water villages, which forms the cultural phenomenon of different accents in different places. When it merges with Nanhai and Shunde, some people speak in Guangzhou dialect, some in Shunde dialect, some in Shiwan dialect, etc. Luckily, all these dialects comes from Cantonese.

佛山是武术之乡，出了一代宗师叶问和黄飞鸿，而且确实佛山本地有不少武术爱好者。但是著名的“佛山无影脚”，却不是谁都能掌握的。
As the village of martial art, Foshan is the hometown of many martial art masters such as Ip Man and Wong Fei-hung. And there are a lot of martial art fans in Foshan. However, the famous “Foshan shadowless kick” is not easy for everyone.
在众多影片中，无影脚被刻画得出神入化，扣人心弦。但是据黄飞鸿的后代传人介绍，无影脚不是像电影中那样，飞起来在空中踢几十下，它是一个扎扎实实的功夫：打出的时候声东击西，扰乱敌人的目标后，发腿攻击对方，所以叫做“无影脚”。
In movies, shadowless kick was described as superb and exciting. But according to the descendant of Wong Fei-hung, it is a kind of solid kung-fu instead of a series of flying kicks in the movies: after distracting rivals, use leg to attack. That’s why it is called “shadowless kick”.

佛山一环是广东省内最长的环城公路，自通车始从未收费。全线不设收费站，免费通行，为目前我国最长的免费高速公路。这也是全国首条从规划开始政府就承诺免费通行的高速公路。
Foshan First Ring Road is the longest road surrounding the city in Guangdong Province. It has never charged since it is put into service, which makes it the longest free highway in China so far. It is also the first highway that was free since planning in China.

The shop area of Lecong Furniture Market is over 3 million square meters, including more than 3,400 shops home and abroad and showing over 20,000 kinds of furniture. It is the largest furniture market in China and even the world.
佛山能与“吃在广州”匹敌？Shunde, Capital of Gourmet
全球已有6座城市被联合国教科文组织授予了“美食之都”称号，顺德榜上有名！顺德作为粤菜的发源地、中国厨师之乡，所以也有“吃在广州，厨出凤城”，美食早已成为顺德城市名片中闪亮的招牌。
There are six cities awarded as “the capital of gourmet” by UNESCO in the world and Shunde is one of them! Shunde is the headstream of Cantonese cuisine and cradle of Chinese cooks. Thus, there is an old saying, “eat in Guangzhou, cook in Shunde”. Gourmet has become a shining brand of Shunde.
佛山曾经可以看到海？See the sea in Foshan
佛山有一个南海区，而南海之所以叫南海是因为它之前真的可以看到海！但是到了明清时期，西江来的泥沙堆积在了珠江口，所以海岸线一直向外扩展，最后南海就看不到海了，所以现在的南海靠顺德和禅城那一带地下很多都是泥沙。
Nanhai District in Foshan was named after a sea! However, in the Ming and Qing Dynasty, the mud and sand from West River silted in the Pearl River Estuary, so coast line kept extending out. Finally, Nanhai could not see the sea. Therefore, there are a lot of mud and sand in the place close to Shunde and Chancheng.
