Guangdong Population Development Plan (2017-2030) was released recently. It proposed to moderately increase the population aggregation in Foshan and other cities.

The document clarified that Guangdong will further enhance the interactive development of small, middle and large-sized cities in the region, and moderately increase the population aggregation of Foshan, Zhongshan, Zhuhai, Zhaoqing and Huizhou.

Till 2020, Guangdong has 2 megacities, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, and 2 extra-large cities. Foshan and Dongguan with a scale of 5 million to 10 million people.

According to the work report of Foshan government in 2018, Foshan increased 194,000 people of registered population in 2017, which was 112,100 people in 2016.

In October, 2017, Foshan Pushing Non-residents to Settle in City Solution was officially published. It puts forward that during the 13rd 5-year plan(2016-2020), Foshan will strive to settle down about 500,000 non-residents.
