From January to June this year, Foshan has added 1,626 pieces of robot application, exceeding 70% of the added number last year in only half a year. Foshan enterprises sped up the pace of transformation and upgrading of applied robots with a total industrial output value of 2,240 billion yuan, which gives birth to a huge industrial robot industrial market.

Mechanized equipment insiders call 2014 as the first year of Chinese industrial robot. Foshan was a pioneer to build this new industry and gathered about 20 robot enterprises. After four years of cultivation, the number of Foshan industrial robot enterprises increases by about 100, covering mainbody manufacturing, accessory manufacturing, system integraters, etc., and making a figure in subdivision like polishing.

Since this year, a lot of new changes appear in Foshan robot industry.

Foshan industrial robot production enterprises mainly gather in mistream and downstream and about 80% are system integraters. From the type of products, Foshan industrial robots are mainly applied in automobile manufacturing, 3C industry, ceramics, home appliances, mechanized equipment and metal materials processing.

Besides enterprises that started from robot production, taking 2014 as an obvious line, many Foshan traditional manufacturing enterprises entered into robot industry in succession such as the home appliance giant Midea Group, Newpearl Ceramics Group, Yizumi from mechanized equipment industry, Samyang Technology, Guangdoong Real Faith Group, etc.

Robot enterprises focusing on system integration have been involving robot mainbody manufacturing process in recent years. Longshen Robot develops mainbody and system integration and thus builds its own brand Capek. Guangdong LXD Robotics Co Ltd is planning the research and production of robot mainbody.

This year, Midea-KUKA Robot Industrial Base was put into use. It is estimated that by 2024, the annual output of robots will reach 75,000 pieces and the annual output of KUKA in China will reach 100,000 pieces. With the launch of Intelligent Manufacturing Innovation Demonstration Park and Midea-KUKA Base, Foshan is expected to become the largest robot production base in China.
