According to statistics revealed by local department of customs, Shunde has registered a total value of 102.01 billion yuan in foreign trade, with a year-on-year increase of 31.1%. The remarkable trade performance breaks down to an export of 86.69 billion yuan with an increase of 29.3%, as well as an import of 15.32 billion yuan with an increase of 42.1%. 

 

In the month of May, international trade value in Shunde has reached 17.87 billion yuan, with a year-on-year increase of 26.1%, and sustained growth for 10 consecutive months. In this month alone, 14.52 billion yuan was registered in export, as increased at a rate of 19.8%, and 3.36 billion yuan was registered in import, as increased at a rate of 63.2%.

In regard to trade pattern, Shunde has showcased robust growth in both general trade and processing trade. From January to May, Shunde scored a value of 56.88 billion in general trade, with an increase of 31.8%, which accounts for 55.8% of its total foreign trade value. During the same period, a value of 25.53 billion was created in processing trade, with an increase of 48.6% that accounts for 25% overall.

When it comes to exporting countries/regions, Shunde owes nearly 30% of its value to countries involved in the "Belt and Road" Initiative. From January to May, 29.94 billion yuan was created in Shundes trade relations with countries along the "Belt and Road", as demonstrated by an increase of 16.8%, and it accounts for 29.4% of its total foreign trade value in between. Plus, 12.18 billion yuan was registered in foreign trade with ASEAN countries, with an increase of 10.7%; 17.68 billion yuan with the United States, with an increase of 41%; and 14.38 billion yuan with the EU, with an increase of 36.2%.

In terms of export products, mechanical and electrical products account for more than a share of 70%. From January to May, Shunde exported 60.92 billion yuan of mechanical and electrical products, with an increase of 31%, and it accounts for 70.3% of its total export value. Specifically, 25.56 billion yuan was created from exports of household appliances, with an increase of 35.7%; 13.55 billion yuan from export of labor-intensive products, with an increase of 18.5%.
