Did Dancing Lion take on your Yuekang Code today?
This morning, many people in Foshan woke up and surprisingly found out something interesting with their "Yuekang Code" ("粤康码"). The code, previously appearing to be green for vaccinated citizens in healthy conditions, has been bordered with a golden frame and an adorable "dancing lion" stands at the center. Artistically, the updated "code" showcases a strong flavor of Lingnan culture.
The ingenious design of "Yuekang Code" has gone instantly viral on Chinese social media. Many have posted their screenshot and expressed their appreciation towards it.
The design was largely drawn from the art of lion dance in Foshan. Traditionally, lion dance serves as a celebration for festive or uplifting occasions such as Chinese New Year, business opening or a birth of life. A dancing lion epitomizes morale, energy, wealth, health and prosperity. It lifted our spirits up and bonded us together to win the battle against COVID-19.
In the fight against the current pandemic, if you have been vaccinated during the whole designated process, a "dancing lion" would stand on you "code" as your powerful safeguard against the virus.
