Foshan foreign trade growth ranked 1st from Jan-Apr in GD

According to customs statistics, in the first four months of this year, Foshan’s total imports and exports surged 9.1% of Guangdong’s total foreign trade to 227.14 billion yuan. The foreign trade of Foshan rose 68.2 percent year-on-year in the reporting period, while that of Guangdong climbed 30.3 percent year-on-year. 
  
Guangdong’s exports increased by 36.2% from a year earlier, while Foshan jumped 75.7 percent to 191.58 billion yuan, accounting for 12.6 percent of Guangdong. As for the imports, Guangdong increased by 22%, while Foshan grew 36.7 percent to 35.56 billion yuan, accounting for 3.6 percent of Guangdong. In April alone, Foshan’s foreign trade soared to 54.38 billion yuan, an increase of 63.6%.
  
In the first 4 months of this year, Foshan’s export-oriented real economy continued to improve. During the reporting period, Foshan’s foreign trade scale continually ranked 4th in Guangdong, coming next to Shenzhen, Dongguan, and Guangzhou. And its imports and exports growth went up 68.2%, ranking first in Guangdong for the first time.
  
In April alone, imports and exports of Foshan’s export-oriented real economyamounted to 34.98 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 32.9% and a month-on-month increase of 4.8%, maintaining a good momentum of steady growth. The Customs Export Leading Index survey in April showed that 58.2% of enterprises had an increase in overall orders, going up 10.5 percentage points compared with March; the proportion of short-term orders and medium- and long-term orders also rose by 3 percentage points from March. 
As of March this year, according to Midea Group, a home appliance company, orders for home appliances rose sharply, among which orders for microwave ovens and dishwashers were all booked in the first half of this year.
  
Statistics show that exports of Foshan’s competitive industries maintained an uninterrupted growth, among which exports of clothing, plastic products, and lamps doubled. With regard to imports, diamond imports doubled, and integrated circuit imports shifted from negative growth to positive one. In recent years, Foshan city has paid full attention to foreign trade imports. From January to April this year, Foshan’s foreign trade imports achieved double-digit growth. Foshan Customs stated that, expanding imports, decreasing foreign trade surpluses and further exerting the role of imports in international exchanges will help reduce empty containers to Foshan. These measures are expected to cut export costs for enterprises to a certain extent, and promote the transformation and upgrading of Foshan’s manufacturing industry.
