"The Legend of the White Snake: Love", the first Cantonese opera film featured with 4K and Dolby technologies, will be released nationwide on May 20th. The film was jointly produced by Pearl River Film Group Co., Ltd., Guangdong Cantonese Theater, and Foshan Cultural Development Investment Management Co., Ltd. Audience will witness how a traditional opera film is "renewed" by technological innovation.

The film is created based on "Legend of the White Snake", one of the most famous Chinese folklores. Different from traditional opera movies, this film has applied revolutionary movie technologies and expressing methods. In the film, once the heroines Bai Suzhen and Xiaoqing come out, every frame of the film is presented in an excitingly elegant and ravishing way. Audience can see the West Lake, water mist, small bridge, lotus, and oil paper umbrella, all of which are pictured as exquisitely as the Chinese ink painting.

The story of "The Legend of the White Snake: Love" took place in the Song Dynasty. The films art team has created more than 600 shots, highlighting the artistic essence of Song Dynasty paintings, i.e., simplicity, implicitness, aura, and blank-leaving. With the support of 4K technology, the audience can feel like being on the scene, immersing in the beauty of those artistic paintings. Wang Xiaoxia, who is in charge of the films styling guidance, led her team to design over one hundred pieces of clothing in 30 patterns with the concept of "styles serve characters and plots". They also innovatively adopted plant coloring.

The film’s director Zhang Xianfeng said that the film presents the love story of Bai Suzhen and Xu Xian with exquisite pictures composition full of oriental charm. At the same time, with many special effects in the film, it shows a bold attempt for opera films to enter industrial film production.
