Most recently, Foshan has seen another success in its urban renewal – Millennium Square in Chencun, Shunde District. The location, once an old paper mill, was renovated into a new industrial resort where you can dine, drink, hang out and shop, as if you arrived at another "Fisherman Warf" in Shunde.

Old place, new landmark

When we talk about landmarks at Fisherman Warf, lighthouse would be the landmark in Ronggui while chimney would be the one in Chencun.

Originally, Millennium Square was a paper mill. Everyone knew it. Standing still here for decades, the iconic "big chimney" has not only bore witness to Chencuns urban development, but also a booming local industry.

Founded in 1958, Chencun Paper Mill was renamed as Millennium Paper Mill in 1999. It is a 59-year-old factory in Guangdong with a strong industrial style.

As construction work was rolled out for Minzu Road, the mill was transformed to "Millennium Square" where the well-preserved chimney was combined with modern artistic designs to create a tourism hotspot.

Special ambiance and design

"Renovation" in Shunde was not just about giving new life to old buildings. It also entails a mission to carry forward local culture.

Walking into the park, youll notice the brick house structure from last century, as if you were travelling through time and space with flashbacks flowing in your mind.

Red Bricks, chimneys, old buildings... You are free to capture all these beautiful moments.

Different from all the bustles and hustles in business districts, the park feels more like a peaceful and warm community. You might come here to chill a bit after meals. Stroll along the river banks and feel your skin touched by refreshing breeze, youll get ride of all your tension and anxiety from life and work.

Delicacies added for a more fun visit

As the park came into service, many restaurants and drink stores have also landed.

Box coffee, for example, a popular take-out coffee shop has gathered another group of "fans" these couple days.

JANICE WONG is an internet-famous coffee shop with simple design style, which makes a great spot for visitors to enjoy.

More cuisines are here for you to explore.
