This week, Shunde Ronggui Locomotive Industrial Cultural Tourism Base took a fresh look with several new sites.A fun trip towards this newly updated park caters to your wishes of many kinds.
Antique Locomotive Warehouse
The time-honored warehouse houses items from all parts of the world – classic Volkswagen Beetle cars, typewriters, radios, projectors, each carrying a legendary story from the past. As one generation passes after another, these collections, though consigned to history, have remained treasures in people’s memories.
The warehouse is a spot where you feel nostalgic for a life in Shunde. It is a place for exhibitions, pleasure, and an experience for younger generations. Plus, multi-functional as it is, the site also serves for photography, research & filming, and conventions.
An Open-air Farm
At the roof of the warehouse lies a small open-air farm, a site for education, tourism and leisure.
The farm was designed with 8 major themed areas: agricultural culture, fruit and vegetable, hydroponic planting, greenhouse breeding, aquatic fish, livestock enclosure, Lingnan style ancient buildings, and Henderson mobile villa office. Now lets take a look.
An old-school vibe kicks in
The moment you walk in the door, you feel yourselves surrounded by a pretty arch bridge, rockeries with a waterwheel, and an eye-dazzling array of fruits planted or hung everywhere. Here, you can feed animals, pick home some fresh vegetables, or take a walk around the traditional Lingnan green-brick courtyard.
A good choice for fruit picking
Following different growing patterns, the farmers here will cultivate fruits and vegetables in each season – a joy of harvest for all.
To explore agriculture
Here, lessons and talks are given about “hydroponics" and "greenhouses" as a part of a “family trip” package. Visitors can feel magical power of technology in changing our lives. As you walk through the vegetable planting area, one will probably notice a big waterwheel squeaking around and goldfish swimming freely in clear water.
To discover animals
Strong cattles, cute pigs, dark-fur sheep, peacocks with gorgeous tails – welcome to the world of animals. As these lovely creatures see you, they are waiting eagerly for you to feed them up. How adorable.
To appreciate Lingnan ancient architectures
With a blue brick roof, the buildings over here are classic Lingnan ancient architectures.
A quaint big wooden door turned and made a "squeak" sound - a unique sound of thick wooden doors in old times. Here you see a firewood room, a large iron pot, and an earthen stove - everything to make up a classic “Chinese kitchen”.
To learn about farming tools
Plows, rakes, picks, shovel, hoes, threshing machines... Do you know any of these traditional farm tools? People in the past will remember those sweaty days working with these tools in the fields, when they woke up early in the morning and returned home late – just to raise up a family.
A unique banquet hall
There is a Chinese-style Lingnan style banquet hall, which can be rented for venue, wedding ceremony and business banquets. Of course, on such a picturesque open-air farm, we will not miss out on throwing an open-air party.
