On March 2nd, Hurun Wealth Report 2021 was unveiled, which marks the 10th year release of the list by Hurun Institute. 3,228 billionaire entrepreneurs from 68 countries and 2,402 companies were included upon the list, calculated until January 15, 2021.
New faces topping the list
Compared to last year, the list took on some changes in 2021, with new faces taking the crowns as the richest in Asia and the world.
Elon Musk, from Tesla, a world-leading new energy vehicle manufacturer, topped the list for the first time. Noticeably, among 1,058 Chinese entrepreneurs on the list, Zhong Shanshan, from Nongfu Spring, a Chinese drinking water brand, became the wealthiest in both China and Asia.
Foshan catching up with Tokyo with 31 appearing on the list
Over the past year, home to 259 more billion-dollar entrepreneurs, China marched farther ahead of the U.S., gathering up 1,058 in total and emerging as the first country ever to have over 1,000 entrepreneurs that belong to such category.
The list shows that there are 12 more billion-dollar entrepreneurs in Foshan compared with last year, reaching a total of 31 this year, which outnumbers metropolis like Los Angeles and Sydney and catches up with Tokyo.
Foshan breeds 3 out of 20 richest entrepreneurs in China
According to Hurun Wealth Report 2021 (China), Foshan ranked the second in terms of the number of billion-dollar entrepreneurs, including He Xiangjian Family at Midea Group, renowned electrical appliance producer, Pang Kang at Haitian, a Chinese condiment/sauce supplier and Yang Huiyan Family at Country Garden, a real-estate developer. Among them, He ranked 7th with a wealth of 285 billion yuan; Pang and Yang ranked 14th together with a wealth of 215 billion yuan.
According to the list, among the 3,228 billion-dollar entrepreneurs in the world, 14 come from Haitian in Foshan, followed by 13 from Alibaba.
