On the evening of August 21st, the first Foshan (Chancheng) Canton Cuisine and Beer Culture Festival kicked off in the Ancient Nanfeng Kiln, Chancheng District, which will last from August 21st to 25th.
Over 200 kinds of gourmet food and unlimited beers
Nearly every stall such as Lingnan Yipin, Dian Yi Long, Ruyi Teahouse, etc., was full of foodies from Guangzhou and Foshan. Shi Lin, Executive Director of Foshan Chain Enterprises Association, said, “Unlike the experience of previous food festivals, this festival is full of time-honored brands and internet-famous restaurants, which are all famous brands, including dim sum, barbecue, soup and so on.”
The performances at the opening ceremony were also splendid. The Foshan culture rap performed by Foshan’s native group 44REAL was refreshing; Laser Lions containing scientific and technological sense drove the atmosphere to highlight.
The first show of the Yanjing Brewery Caravan in Guangdong was settled in Foshan. People gathered in front of the caravan for free tasting and three-for-two offers, and collected likes for beers.
An Australian joined the festival with his wife, saying, “Compared with the Munich Oktoberfest in Germany, the food festival in Chancheng has another unique flavor. Tasting Cantonese food, drinking beers, and visiting the thousand-year-old Ancient Nanfeng Kiln brought me an unforgettable night.”
Discover “Chancheng flavor” in gourmet agglomeration zones
At present, Chancheng is building “3+3” gourmet food agglomeration zones, including the construction of 3 municipal landmark gourmet food agglomeration zones (Lingnan Tiandi, Glory Singping Li, and Foshan Creative Industry Park), and more than 3 special food agglomeration zones in district level (Zinan Food Plaza, Poyang Zhongchuang Town, Ancient Nanfeng Kiln Creative Park, etc.).
Foshan, the main birthplace of Cantonese food, is rated as “City of Cantonese Cuisine and Gourmet Food”, “City of Gastronomy” and other reputations. In June, 2019, Foshan officially implemented the project construction of Cantonese cuisine chefs’ “1+5” series to build the world-famous “City of Cantonese Cuisine and Chefs”.
Tong Quanqing, Deputy Director of Foshan Municipal Bureau of Commerce, said that discovering and presenting gourmet culture is a significant start to popularize Foshan gourmet brands, show the charms of Foshan culture and improve the city image of Foshan.
