Under the dual impact of this years COVID-19 epidemic and the complex international situation, Japanese-funded enterprises have continued to grow their investments in Foshan against the trend. As of July 17th, there are 21 foreign-invested companies in Chancheng District with Japanese investors equity participation. The industry is dominated by manufacturing with 50% of Japanese companies from auto parts companies.

   

   

TOYOMORI MASASHI, President of FOSHAN XINMING TEXTILE RESIN CO., LTD, said that when the company went into production in 2007, the turnover was only 20 million yuan and there were only about 20 employees. But last year, the turnover had reached 420 million yuan and the number of employees reached 223; the scale of the company has grown from the initial 3 production lines to the current 19 production lines.

   

 

 

At present, there are 118 Japanese-funded enterprises in Nanhai District, with a wide range of industries, including advanced manufacturing industries such as auto parts and modern logistics services. For example, AEON Japan has AEON Mall in Dali, Nanhai, a large shopping mall where all tenants are invited by the Mall.

 

IIDA (FOSHAN) INDUSTRY CO., LTD moved to Nanhai District in 2012. The scale of the company has tripled and the number of employees has more than doubled. General Manager Kosuke Mizuno said that the current average annual output of raw materials is 1.6 million tons, and the annual gross production value exceeds 100 million yuan. Annual sales and profits have increased significantly.

 

 

Relying on the manufacturing center in the Pearl River Delta and backing on the geographical advantages of the three major Japanese automakers, many large Japanese manufacturing companies have successively settled in Shunde for development. Among them, more than 50 well-known Japanese companies, such as Toyoda Gosei and Tokai Rika, cover many fields such as automobile manufacturing and electronic information.

 

 

"Because GAC Toyota was going to set up factories in Guangzhou at that time, Toyota Gosei also saw the need to develop here." said Mukai Hiroshi, Director and President of Toyota Gosei (Foshan) Auto Parts Co., Ltd. The first factory, with sales of only 200 million yuan, is expected to reach 1.55 billion yuan this year, and the third factory is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

 

 

At present, there are mainly three Japanese-owned enterprises in Gaoming District, namely Achilles (Foshan) New Material Co., Ltd., HONDA FOUNDRY (Foshan) Co., Ltd. and Sunkey New Material (Foshan) Co., Ltd. The quantity is small but the quality is excellent.

 

 

Among them, HONDA FOUNDRY (Foshan) Co., Ltd. has been developing in Gaoming for many years. It covers an area of about 120,000 square meters and has more than 830 employees. It specializes in the development, design and production of precision aluminum light alloy parts for automobiles, and strives to build Chinas best R&D and production base of strong precision light alloy parts.

 

 

At present, there are 15 Japanese-funded enterprises in Sanshui, covering a wide range of industries, including machinery and equipment, chemicals, etc.

  

  

Noriyuki Umehara, President of the Foshan plant of Guangzhou Yakult Co., Ltd., believes that the Sanshui Southwest International Water Capital Beverage Base gathers a lot of production enterprises and has a broad market prospect. He emphasized, "The completion of the Foshan factory is conducive to the supply of the western market in Guangdong, and it is of great help to the improvement of logistics and transportation efficiency in western Guangdong."
