On the first day of fishing period, a number of fishing boats lined up on the surface of Xijiang River section in Jiujiang Town, Nanhai District, Foshan. Several hundred meters of fishing nets scattered over the river, trying to catch the first batch of fresh water food in the Xijiang River after the closed fishing season this year. 

Shakou Community of Jiujiang Town, with a fishing history of 60 years, held the second online fishing festival “Fishing Happiness & Good Deeds” on the morning of July 1st, which comprehensively showed the fishing ceremony, fishing boats leaving the pot for fishing, and the fishery harvest of the first day through micro live broadcasting.

It’s reported that the amount of fishery harvest on July 1st was roughly the same as that of the beginning of fishing period last year. On the first day of fishing period, lots of residents came to the riverside waiting to buy fresh water food. Some fishermen said that the food price this year is relatively low, but as time goes by, the amount will reduce and become more expensive.

It’s said that part of the fish and shrimp caught by fishermen will be sold to the riverside restaurant, and the rest to the public at the market or by the riverside. During the closed fishing season, fish in the restaurant are mainly farmed. When it comes to the fishing period, customers can enjoy authentic fresh water food. As more fish is suppled by the fishermen, the price will be lower.
