At noon on May 6, in the first floor lobby of Jinhai M-CITY, Mark, in red hat and red vest, got noticed in the volunteer team on duty. He is a foreign resident in Dongping community and works as an English teacher in a nearby kindergarten.
During the epidemic, Mark has been staying at his home in Foshan New Town, actively following the prevention and control measures, such as wearing a mask, measuring body temperature when going, etc.. He said, "It has to be that way to ensure the health and safety of every resident. I think the communitys anti-epidemic measures are well done, which makes me feel at ease."
The care and help from the community members left a very deep impression on Mark. "I have been in the Dongping community for 9 months. During this time, I saw community workers and volunteers doing a lot for the residents. Having received a lot of help, I desperately hope that I can contribute myself, too." 2 weeks ago, Mark became a volunteer for community epidemic prevention as he wished.

Dongping Community
The Dongping community consists of 18 sub-district buildings, with numbers of foreigners coming and going. As for all the 52 foreign residents living in the community currently, the community has found out many experience and methods of epidemic prevention and control, trying to assist foreign tenants to return and stay at home and settle down smoothly.

In addition, back in early March, the Dongping community launched a 39-member anti-epidemic translation service team through recruitment, which not only supplemented the anti-epidemic manpower, but also helped the community to improve the survey and communication efficiency with foreign personnel, building communication bridges among them.
"We genuinely feel that no matter where we come from, we can be trusted and welcomed and integrated into the community family." Although it was only two weeks after participating in volunteer service, Mark made friends with his partners, such as the middle school English teacher Xiong Qingsong, a first-year graduate student Huang Jiaqi, etc.. What’s more, Mark also said that as a part of the anti-epidemic community, fighting side by side with the residents and uniting against the epidemic also brought him a strong sense of belonging.
