Foshan receives over 1.159 mln tourists during May Day holiday

Foshan received a total of 1.159 million visitors during the May Day holiday, according to the Foshan Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports.
   

From May 1 to 5, the tourists contributed a total of 476 million yuan in tourism revenue, said the bureau.

   


   

According to the statistics of the bureau, the reception of domestic and foreign tourists in the city during the May Day holiday has recovered 36.61% year on year. Furthermore, 100,700 visitors from home and abroad stayed overnight, accounting for a year-on-year recovery of 21.99%; 1.0583 million visitors from one-day trips were received with a year-on-year recovery of 39.08%.

   


   

Foshan required online reservations for tours of tourist attractions. Foshan tourist sites fully implemented the regulation of not exceeding 30 percent of their daily or real-time visitor capacity amid the COVID-19 epidemic. Tourists are also required to show their health QR codes and have their body temperatures taken for safety.

   


   

On the first day of the holiday, 8000 tourist admissions to Xiqiao Mountain were fully booked at 10:40 in the morning. From May 3 to May 5, the daily tourist capacity of the scenic spot was raised from 8,000 to 10,000. The beautiful Midea Luhu Automobile Theme Hotel in Gaoming District was fully booked for 4 consecutive days from May 1 to 4. On the holiday eve, the bureau also released 20 candidate tourist routes for the selection of "Top Ten Excellent Tourist Routes in Foshan", recommending a series of characteristic tourist routes to citizens and tourists.

   

   

An official of the bureau said that the cultural tourism market in Foshan during the May Day holiday was in good order, and there was no tourism incident or emergency.
