On June 23th, the 2nd Foshan High-tech Progress Awards press conference and declaration briefing meeting was held and attracted over 300 high-tech enterprises in Foshan to participate. This year, High-tech Progress Awards is divided into two categories including “Achievement Award” and “Progress Award”. The number of awards have increased to 100, and enterprises can declare the awards before November 1st. 

Foshan High-tech Progress Award is Foshan’s first batch of science and technology award set by society. Last year, there were 5 “Foshan High-tech Achievement Awards” and 64 “Foshan High-tech Progress Awards”. This year, the number of the Awards has increased largely, with no more than 10 awards for “Achievement Award” and no more than 10, 30 and 50 awards for first, second and third prizes for “Progress Award”.

Chen Weicheng, Secretary General of Foshan High-tech Industry Association, introduced that those outstanding projects earning High-tech Progress Awards will be recommended to become the provincial science and technology award projects storage. And those projects will also get the opportunity to be publicized and promoted. The projects entered into the storage will receive 150,000 yuan or 200,000 yuan of funding, and the projects winning provincial and national science and technology awards will receive more funding support. Chen Weicheng said that with the support of Foshan National Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone, Foshan High-tech Industry Association will also set up the Foshan Hi-tech Zone Science and Technology Cooperation Award to reward those units registering in the Foshan Hi-tech Zone and contributing to the promotion of industry-university-research cooperation and innovation.

The second Foshan High-tech Progress Awards Competition is jointly organized by Foshan High-tech Industry Association uniting High-technology Industry Association of Nanhai, Shunde, Gaoming and Sanshui. The enterprises to declare the awards can register and submit materials before November 1st. It is worth noting that besides achieving the international leading level of technology, those projects declaring the first prize of Progress Award must undergo two years or more of practical application and achieve expected results.
