Located at the Shiwan, Foshan, the capital of ceramics in South China, Nanfeng Ancient Kiln collects different kinds of folk arts such as lion dance, Cantonese opera and paper-cutting as well as traditional food such as double-layered milk. The delegation experienced how to do paper cutting and make double-layered milk on the spot.

Rao Baolian, a master of paper cutting, demonstrates to all the students how to make paper-cutting.

Finally, the first 6 students who finished their paper-cutting work got a collection of Rao’s paper-cutting work.

Aliyah, a girl from the United States, said that even though it was difficult to complete the work, she really enjoyed the process and got a beautiful paper-cutting in the end.

Later, Chief Qian Hongjin taught students to make double-layered milk and students enjoyed this delicious Lingnan dessert made by themselves afterwards. “Though time is limited, we sincerely hope that we can promote the gourmet culture of Lingnan,” Qian said.

Appreciate lion dance in the Ancestral Temple

As a traditional folk art in China, lion dance is a typical sign of Lingnan culture. This time, the delegation got together to appreciate the performance of lion dance in the Ancestral Temple.

The lion walked on a pile of about 3 meters high. Many students watched carefully and took pictures to capture the exciting moments.

The “lion” has close interaction with audience.

After the performance, students could not wait to take photos with the lion.

Yue Xiaojing, vice president of Foshan People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, welcomed the delegation and wished people from different countries to become a messenger of different civilizations. “I hope everyone could share what you had experienced in Foshan with your friends and let more people know about Foshan.” Yue said.
