On November 22nd, delegates from ASEAN countries and South Asia participating in the Regional Training Program on Non-Convention Vessel Management visited and learnt in Foshan Maritime Safety Administration (hereafter referred to as Foshan MSA). They also boarded a ferry to study the safety supervision mode in Haishou Ferry Terminal.

 

 

The Regional Training Program on Non-Convention Vessel Management is an important part of Chinas cooperation in strengthening maritime interconnection and technical standards with countries such as ASEAN and South Asia. It is known that this is the first time that China has held Regional Training Program on Non-Convention Vessel Management for ASEAN and South Asian countries. Those participants are from Brunei, Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, Bangladesh and Pakistan.

 

Maritime delegates from ASEAN and South Asia participated in the Regional Training Program on Non-Convention Vessel Management.

In the morning, at the Command Center of Foshan MSA, the maritime instructors introduced the water transportation situation of Foshan to the participants by means of electronic sandbox and multimedia, and shared the smart supervision experience of Foshan Ferry by using the “Smart Maritime” platform. In the afternoon, the trainees boarded the ferry to visit the maritime safety supervision of Haishou Ferry Terminal, and learned about the facilities of the terminal, the safety supervision of the ferry, the ferry navigation environment and the application of “Smart Maritime” in detail.

 

The participants also focused on how to apply the new regulatory models such as electronic “zebra crossing”, “smart maritime supervision”, and climate warning screen to the ferry on-site supervision. Besides, they exchanged methods of maritime regulation and supervision on how to supervise ferry under severe climate. They also expressed appreciation to Foshan MSA and the local government for jointly building the “most beautiful and safe village ferry”.

 

 

"This exchange is very meaningful and has benefited me a lot. It has deepened my understanding of Chinas maritime safety supervision work and I am deeply impressed by maritime smart supervision of Foshan MSA." Pongwish Innmai, Director of the Marine Affairs Bureau and the Port Authority of Thailand, said that he hopes to continue to enhance the exchange of vessel safety management experience and promote Thailands vessel safety management capabilities.

 

In recent years, Foshan MSA has strengthened the construction of information technology, innovatively applied the microwave transmission video surveillance system and the electronic “zebra crossing” on the ferry waterway, standardized the navigation and accomplished the full monitoring of ferry and waterway. In addition, the “climate Warning Screen” equipped in the Haishou Ferry Terminal and the newly painted coloring ferry have also strengthened the safety of the ferry.
