Foshan signs a letter of cooperation intent with Salto, Uruguay

On the morning of November 20th, Zhu Wei, Deputy Secretary of the Foshan Municipal Committee and Mayor of the Foshan Municipal People’s Government, met with ANDRÉS LIMA, Governor of Salto Province, Uruguay and Mayor of the capital city of Salto and MARTIN ALVEZ, Consul General of Uruguay in Guangzhou. The two sides discussed and exchanged issues on promoting win-win cooperation and strengthening mutual visits, and finally signed a letter of intent on expanding friendly exchanges and cooperation between the two cities.

Zhu Wei warmly welcomed ANDRÉS LIMA and the visiting delegation. Then he introduced to them Foshan’s long history, splendid culture and social- economic development. Zhu Wei said that Salto City is rich in natural resources and enjoys advanced agriculture and animal husbandry while Foshan, as an important manufacturing base in China, is a highly industrialized city. Obviously, the advantages of the two cities are complementary and there is a huge room for cooperation. He hoped that Foshan and Salto can enhance cooperation and exchanges to accomplish mutual benefits and win-win results against the backdrop of “the Belt and Road Initiative”.

ANDRÉS LIMA expressed his gratitude for the hospitality of Foshan. He believed that the signing of the letter of intent on strengthening friendly communication and cooperation between Foshan and Salto will serve as a good starting point for friendly exchanges between the two cities. In the future, the city of Salto will promote exchanges and cooperation with Foshan in the economic, trade and cultural fields.  
 
The both sides signed a letter of intent on expanding friendly exchanges and cooperation.
 
Subsequently, both Foshan and Salto City signed a letter of intent to strengthen friendly exchanges and cooperation. In the future, the two cities will carry out various forms of exchanges and cooperation in the domains of economy, trade, tourism and culture, promoting friendship between the people of the two cities through various forms of friendly exchange activities.
 
ANDRÉS LIMA and the visiting delegation inspected South China (International) Fruit & Accessory Food Town of Foshan.  
 
On the morning of the same day, under the arrangement of Foshan Foreign Affairs and Overseas Chinese Affairs Bureau and Foshan Federation of Industry and Commerce, ANDRÉS LIMA and the visiting group also went to South China (International) Fruit & Accessory Food Town of Foshan to inspect the fruit wholesale market so as to promote the cooperation in fruit import and export and strengthen business exchanges between the two cities.
