“2018 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area·Pan-Pearl River Delta (Guangdong) Intangible Cultural Heritage Week & Foshan Qiuse Parade” will be held from October 31 to November 4. With the strong support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China, Foshan Qiuse Parade this year will once again upgrade, and the covering range will be expanded from Guangdong to Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and PPRD.
The events will focus on the theme of “Foshan Rhythm & Lingnan Autumn” with Foshan Qiuse Parade as the main line, featuring folk art and regional customs of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Pan-Pearl River Delta, including the show of intangible cultural heritage, parade performances and folk activities. Besides, the activities mainly contain seven sections, including the live exhibition of intangible cultural heritage, Autumn Festival of the Ancestral Temple, Rural Drinking Ceremony, cooperation dialogue on intangible cultural heritage, Qiuse Competition, Qiuse Parade and Qiuse Big Stage.
Qiuse Parade, known as the best part of the events, will be held for two consecutive nights at 7:40 pm on November 2nd and 3rd, including 43 performance programs and 6 floats. The “9+2” cities in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and the other eight provinces (autonomous regions) of the PPRD except Guangdong, as well as the seven cities of Foshan’s counterparts will cooperate to participate in the program. The main venue of the parade kick-off ceremony is located in the Memorial Gateway Square of Ancestral Temple where the parade team will depart north with a whole journey of 3.5 kilometers.
From November 1st to 4th, the live exhibitions of intangible cultural heritage projects will also be conducted in Lingnan Tiandi. 43 intangible cultural heritage projects will be exhibited including 19 national-level projects and 15 provincial-level items. This is also the first time that the exhibition has introduced intangible cultural heritage projects outside Guangdong.
In addition, Intangible Cultural Heritage Week this year will continue to conduct Qiuse Big Stage by organizing excellent parade projects and programs prepared by five districts so that Foshan citizens can share the joy of Qiuse Parade together.
