The 3rd International Dragon Boat Federation World Cup (hereafter referred as IDBF World Cup Championship) ended on October 21th in Chongqing. The Chinese Dragon Boat Team, formed by the Foshan Dragon Boat Team, won the championship with four gold medals and one silver medal. This is also the third time that the Chinese dragon boat team won the IDBF World Cup Championship.

 

 

The event entered the second final day yesterday. After winning the 100-meter straight race and the 200-meter straight race in the previous day, the Chinese Dragon Boat Team won a silver medal in the 12-person dragon boat & 1000m group pursuit race with 4 minutes 34 seconds 966. The team also won the gold medal of the 12-person dragon boat & 400m group relay race with 1 minute 35 seconds 289 and gain the first prize of the 22-person mixed standard dragon boat & 500m straight race in 1 minute and 43 seconds.

 

The Chinese Dragon Boat Team consists of Nanhai Jiujiang Womens Team and the Shunde Lecong Mens Team. For the first time, two Foshan local dragon boat teams jointly represent China to battle in the IDBF World Cup. The coach of the womens team, Ou jianan, believes that the Chinese team played well, which not only reflects the team members stable mentality in the world competition, but also indicates the harmonious cooperation of Jiujiang womens team and Shunde Lecong mens team. In order to improve the tacit understanding of the two teams, the two teams exchanged training for three consecutive days before the game. The two teams immediately started adaptive training after arriving in Chongqing on October 16th.

 

The 3rd International Dragon Boat Federation World Cup, hosted by the International Dragon Boat Federation, consists of five competitions representing the highest level of world dragon boat race nowadays. Among the participating teams in 12 countries and regions around the world, the Chinese Dragon Boat Team won 4 gold and 1 silver medals in the competition events and won the championship trophy, which symbolizes the highest honor of the world dragon boat.
