The most lively temple fair celebrating the birth of Daxian will be held on this weekend
The annual “the birth of Daxian” will be held on May 27-28 in Nanhai, Xiqiao Mountain this year, where you can watch the parade, visit the temple fair and enjoy the folk art. Lv Dongbin, a well-known ancient immortal, was born on April 14th of the lunar calendar, namely on May 28th, 2018. People commonly call this day “the birth of Daxian”. Nanhai will host a series of exciting celebrations. Let’s have a look!
The overview of this temple fair
This cultural festival includes intangible cultural heritage exhibitions, temple fair of folk customs, eight immortals parade and other activities. During the festival, 12 intangible cultural heritage projects such as sugar painting art and Foshan ceramics will be displayed to show the traditional culture to the citizens.

It is known that the "Xiqiao Temple Fair cerebrating the birth of Daxian" was included in the protection list of Foshans intangible cultural heritage in 2009, and it was included in the protection list of the Guangdong intangible cultural heritage in 2013. Every year on April 14th of lunar calendar, “the birth of Daxian” is a folk cultural feast in Xiqiao and even the whole Pearl River Delta Area.
