
A child is tasting Gaoming Gok (a kind of traditional dumpling) with full expectation.
On March 25, there was a bustling scene in Wangtian Village, Genghe Town, Gaoming District. The 8th Genghe Gok Folk Festival was held here. Many villagers working in other places came back to hometown on this day, gathered in Wangtian Village Cultural Square and tasted traditional gourmet such as Gok, Da Tuan, Ai Ci, etc.

Villagers gather to taste a feast of gok. There are 100 tables in total.



Press pastry, fill stuffing, twist flowery edge...... A simple gok contains the taste of Gaoming people’s childhood and the hometown in taste bud.
Crescent Gok is slightly bigger than regular dumplings. It uses rice flour to make pastry. The sweet Gok is filled with sesame and peanut while the salty one is filled with yam bean and vegetables. The salty Gok is steamed, smooth and tasty, and the sweet Gok is fried, crispy and fragrant.


Eating Gok is a traditional folk custom in Genghe Town, Gaoming District and it is also an intangible cultural heritage protection project in Gaoming with a history of over 500 years. On this day, villagers and guests gathered together to share traditional gourmet, memorizing sweet times and expecting wonderful future.
