To better feel about a city, besides walking through local groceries, a visit to those time-honored museums might be more revealing.

  

Zumiao Museum


Built during the reign of Emperor Yuanfeng of the Northern Song Dynasty (1078-1085), the Ancestral Temple is a time-honored brand among Foshan museums.

 

 

When you look up, the essence of the Ancestral Temple is reflected on the different ceramic images on the eaves of ancient buildings, telling the story of the past. Following the sound of Cantonese opera, you can find the largest ancient stage that is well-preserved and ornately decorated in south China -- Wanfu Tai. The Ip Man Hall and Wong Fei-hung Memorial Hall in it are the best places to enjoy the charm of this Kung Fu city.

Guangdong Cantonese Opera Museum


What is Muyu Book of ancient rap? Was Cantonese opera played on vinyl record in the early Republic of China? Walk into the first Cantonese opera museum in China, and you will feel the mystery of the birthplace of Cantonese opera unveiled.

Wu’s Courtyard

(Jiujiang Overseas Chinese Hometown Museum)


Founded in 1887 during the reign of Emperor Guangxu in the late Qing Dynasty, the Wu’s Courtyard has a history of 134 years and is the first museum about overseas Chinese in Foshan.

 

 

You can learn about Jiujiangs culture such as fishing and farming, dragon boats, Confucian culture, and hometown of overseas Chinese in the wok-shaped architecture that dates back to hundreds of years. You can see the oldest dragon boat in town or sing in the pavilion with echo effect.
